About the program
The NSW Government’s Washing Machine Exchange Program is subsidising eligible low-income households to upgrade their inefficient top-loading washing machine to a water and energy efficient front-loading model – saving water and easing the cost of living.
This NSW Government initiative targets water savings at the household level, a priority of the NSW Water Strategy. By upgrading, your household can expect to save up to $250 (incl. GST) per year on water, energy and detergent costs with water savings anticipated to be around 20 kilolitres of water per year.
Round one of the program will launch on 1 July 2025 and will close when all washing machines have been allocated for that round. Subsequent rounds will likely take place, sign up to our newsletter to stay updated.
Successful applicants will pay $250 (incl. GST) for the front load washing machine, delivery, installation, and 2-year warranty. Successful applicants will have 5 days to make payment.

In the event this washing machine is sold out or unavailable, an alternative model will be provided.
To be eligible for the program you must:
- be a resident of NSW
- be more than 18 years old
- hold a valid Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card* or Low Income Card from Centrelink or Department of Veteran Affairs
- have an existing top-loading washing machine to exchange.
You must meet all the eligibility requirements listed above to participate in the program.
* A Commonwealth Seniors Health Card is not sufficient for this offer
How to apply
The application takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
- Make sure you have your valid concession card handy before you apply
- If successful, your application will be approved instantly, and you will be able to place your order.
To complete your application, you will need an:
- Image of your concession card to confirm it is valid and up to date.

After placing your order on this website, it will be sent to The Good Guys Commercial for processing. The Good Guys will send an SMS with a secure payment link to your mobile phone. You will have 5 days to make payment. Once payment is received The Good Guys will contact you to book in a date for delivery. You will then receive a Tax Invoice confirming the total cost of the washing machine, including delivery.

Important information
Delivery and install
The Good Guys will deliver and install your washing machine with delivery costs included in the purchase cost. Delivery is a mandatory part of the program. The Good Guys will remove your old machine for recycling when they deliver your new machine.
Terms and conditions
- The program is administered by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
- Subsidised front loading washing machines are available for purchase by eligible participants from The Good Guys.
- You must be able to pay for your washing machine at the time of placing your order.
- Although the program is administered by the department, after your application for the program is approved you will be purchasing a washing machine directly from The Good Guys. Accordingly, The Good Guys (and not the department) is solely responsible for the supply, delivery and installation of the washing machine, and dealing with any issues you may have in relation to the washing machine, including maintenance and repair issues.
- The program permits you to apply for one replacement washing machine per household.
- You are not eligible if you participated in the Washing Machine Replacement Trial in 2022.
- Eligibility criteria may be changed by the department at any time.
Installation and removal
- The Good Guys will contact you to book your delivery.
- You must have a street address and accessible driveway for delivery and removal.
- You must be available to accept and sign for delivery of the replacement washing machine.
- You must make available and allow collection of your existing machine at the time that is agreed with The Good Guys. This will be at the same time as your new machine is delivered.
- Existing machines will be removed by The Good Guys for recycling. You will not be paid for your existing washing machine.
