A program designed to reduce the risk and impact of flood events across towns in inland NSW has been extended thanks to a $3 million Australian Government grant.

With the recent heavy rain across the state and additional rain expected in coming weeks, the NSW Government is continuing to prioritise the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation Scheme.

Landholders and Aboriginal communities along the Murrumbidgee River are being encouraged to reach out to the NSW Government’s Reconnecting River Country program and provide feedback to improve the way water for the environment is delivered.

NSW has made significant progress towards its obligations under the Murray Darling Basin Plan, having  now lodged its final water resource plans to the Murray Darling Basin Authority (MDBA).

Communities across the state have reaped the benefits of the NSW Water Strategy, with the first progress report showing major milestones achieved just 12 months after its launch.

The community is invited to have its say on the draft Namoi Regional Water Strategy, a plan to deliver more secure, safe and reliable water for Tamworth, Narrabri, Gunnedah and the Namoi region for the next 20 years and beyond.
