NSW has made significant progress towards its obligations under the Murray Darling Basin Plan, having  now lodged its final water resource plans to the Murray Darling Basin Authority (MDBA).

Works are progressing on the upgrades for a secure water supply to improve water pressure in the townships of Wyalong and West Wyalong.

The $19 million Gundagai Sewerage Treatment Plant upgrade has been completed, providing modern sewerage services to the town’s residents and visitors.

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment has suspended a planned environmental water release from Jindabyne Dam that was scheduled to take place on Thursday 1 December 2022, due to flood operations being undertaken by Snowy Hydro.

The draft Far North Coast Regional Water Strategy is on public display, and the community is invited to have its say on shortlisted options.

The rain keeps coming but the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation Scheme has protected the community through five major flood events since March 2021.

The NSW Government has committed over $240,000 through its water efficiency program to cover subscription costs to the Smart Water Advice program, which provides tools and resources to help councils and local water utilities provide water saving

The local community will have extra time to get involved, share knowledge and give feedback during the Reconnecting River Country Program’s first feedback stage, with the deadline to apply extended to 15 October.

Private landholders, First Nations people and community organisations are invited to share their local knowledge and expertise to help shape the future of the Reconnecting River Country Program.
