Ken Matthews' announcement regarding his interim report for Independent Investigation into NSW Water Management and Compliance

Opening water allocations announced by the department for NSW licenced water users reflect continued recovery in available water resources across the state.

The NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment has today advised that supplementary water allocations for the Gwydir and Border Rivers are likely to see reduced allocations commencing in the 2021-22 water year.

Today’s water allocations announced by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment for licensed water users reflect some improvement in resource availability, particularly for towns and high priority entitlements.

Two landholders from the Walgett area will face 14 charges in the Land and Environment Court for breaches of water laws in 2016 and 2017.

Ken Matthews’ interim report into water administration and compliance in NSW has been received by the NSW Government. Minister for Regional Water, Niall Blair, thanked Mr Matthews and his team for undertaking such a thorough and comprehensive

Mr Matthews has completed information gathering for the interim report, and the drafting of this is close to completion.
