About 100 primary and high school students and their teachers in Wilcannia will take part in workshops to learn why being water-wise has never been more important, and what they can do to help cut water waste.

Construction is underway on the new Bega-Tathra Water Treatment and Filtration Plant which is set to deliver world-class drinking water to some 8,000 South Coast locals.

The local community will have extra time to get involved, share knowledge and give feedback during the Reconnecting River Country Program’s first feedback stage, with the deadline to apply extended to 15 October.

Private landholders, First Nations people and community organisations are invited to share their local knowledge and expertise to help shape the future of the Reconnecting River Country Program.
