Following the successful passage of the Federal Government’s bill to rescue the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, New South Wales is getting straight to work to deliver important water saving projects.

The NSW Government is continuing to work to minimise the expose of our regional communities to water buybacks, with the release of the NSW Alternatives to Buybacks Plan today.

A new $55 million pipeline that connects the Calala Water Treatment Plant in Tamworth to the Dungowan Showgrounds has been completed, helping save up to 2.2 megalitres of water per day.

The design and construction of the new state-of-the-art Mardi Water Treatment Plant is locked in with Abergeldie Contractors Pty Ltd winning the contract to deliver the project.

The NSW Government and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council (PMHC) are together investing $2.3 million to finalise plans for a new water treatment plant, larger water distribution system and major upgrade of a sewage treatment plant.
