Following the successful passage of the Federal Government’s bill to rescue the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, New South Wales is getting straight to work to deliver important water saving projects.

The NSW Government is continuing to work to minimise the expose of our regional communities to water buybacks, with the release of the NSW Alternatives to Buybacks Plan today.

Water users are being encouraged to have their say on the draft replacement Murray Unregulated Water Sharing Plan (WSP), which proposes greater protections for wetlands and more opportunities for trade between water sources.

The NSW Government is calling for feedback on the draft Intersecting Streams Water Sharing Plan which will set out clear rules for the fair and sustainable division of water among users and the environment for the next decade.

The NSW Government welcomes the findings of the Independent Review by the Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer (OCSE) into the deaths of millions of fish along the Darling-Baaka River near Menindee earlier this year.
