$12.3 million Grenfell sewerage treatment plant complete

A new $12.3 million sewage treatment plant is no operating in Grenfell thanks to the NSW Government’s successful Safe and Secure Water Program.

It is the largest water infrastructure project to be delivered in Grenfell and was completed on time and on budget.

The project brings the town’s wastewater services into the 21st century providing a modern sewerage network that will support residents and businesses for many decades to come.

The new plant replaces existing infrastructure that was built 80 years ago and has reached the end of its life.

The plant will use the latest technology for recycling wastewater, processing up to 1500 kilolitres of effluent every day.

The new infrastructure will enable the Weddin Shire Council to meet any increases in demand further down the track.

Water is a precious and limited resource so reusing treated wastewater to irrigate parks and sporting fields like Henry Lawson Oval means the town gets the most out of every drop.

The plant was built by Haslin Constructions who provided job opportunities for local suppliers and tradesmen.

The completion of the Grenfell sewerage treatment facility is one of several water and sewerage infrastructure projects being delivered in the region with Junee and Ardlethan already completed and Barellan and Gundagai progressing well.

This project is part of the $1.1 billion Safe and Secure Water Program, which has delivered 34 completed projects across regional NSW with funding for more than 200 other projects currently in various stages of delivery.
