$8.8 million world class sewerage scheme for Bundarra

The NSW Government has helped deliver a new state-of-the-art $8.8 million Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewerage Network in Bundarra thanks to its successful Safe and Secure Water Program.

The new infrastructure will deliver modern sewer services to more than 170 homes and businesses in Bundarra for the first time.

The new system gives the town’s 400 residents access to modern sewer services that most of NSW takes for granted.

Each property in Bundarra now has its own pump and tank, connected to a mains sewer line outside the dwelling or business.

It means potential health risks associated with ageing private septic systems are well and truly in the past.

The new sewerage scheme will have a positive impact for more than just Bundarra residents.

Benefits of the new system include reducing potential groundwater impacts addressing odour issues and improving water quality in the Gwydir River, which is a source of water for downstream communities.

The completion of the project will also help support opportunities for future housing and business development.

The new scheme will be managed and operated by Uralla Shire Council, relieving residents of the burden of having to maintain their septic systems.

This project was funded thanks to $6.5 million from the NSW Government’s Safe and Secure Water Program and $2.3 million from Uralla Shire Council.

This project is part of the $1.1 billion Safe and Secure Water Program, which has delivered 34 completed projects across regional NSW with funding for more than 200 other projects currently in various stages of delivery.
