New Deputy Secretary for Crown Lands & Water

The NSW Department of Industry today announced Liz Livingstone will be the Deputy Secretary for the newly created Crown Lands and Water Division.

Secretary for the Department of Industry Simon Smith said he looks forward to working with Ms Livingstone on implementing plans for the new Division, including the establishment of the independent Natural Resources Access Regulator and new Crown land reforms.

“Liz Livingstone has worked in natural resources in a range of contexts – including regulatory work at IPART where she worked in water licensing – and Liz led policy teams at the Department of Primary Industries before becoming Executive Director of Resources and Land Use at the Department of Premier and Cabinet,” he said.

“Liz also had a key role in establishing the Natural Resources Commission and has deep experience in developing and brokering natural resources policy at all levels of government. Her expertise and experience will be invaluable during a time of great change and growth for Crown Lands and Water.”

Ms Livingstone is currently the Executive Director of Regional Policy and Analytics at the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and said she is excited about this next chapter in her career.

“The Crown Lands and Water Division within the Department of Industry has a challenging program of work ahead,” she said.

“I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to work with a new team and for the people of NSW, particularly those in regional NSW, who value and rely on our natural resources.”

Ms Livingstone has 20 years of public policy experience, mostly working in NSW government entities but also as a consultant for PWC Australia for several years in its economics and policy business. She started her career with the Australian Government as a graduate at the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

She will begin in her new role on Monday 4 December.
