New meter accreditation agency is good news for regional water users
The NSW Government is pleased to advise NSW water users that Manly Hydraulics Laboratory has been granted extended accreditation to test non-urban water meters that have a flow capacity up to 1,500 litres per second as a step in the water meter pattern approval process.
Emma Solomon, Group Director of the Water Renewal Taskforce said the additional accreditation will help meter manufacturers achieve pattern approval for the larger diameter meters and meet the demands of water users.
“Surface water users with 500 mm pumps or larger must meet the new metering framework requirements by 1 December 2019.
“Water users with works that meet the infrastructure size or multiple works thresholds must confirm their meters are pattern-approved and validated or meet the accuracy requirements by their roll-out date. They will also need to install a data logger and tamper evident seals.
“Having recently been granted extended accreditation by the National Association of Testing Authorities, Manly Hydraulics Laboratory remains a world-class testing facility of water meters and provides peace of mind to licence holders that pattern approved meters meet all the relevant standards required under NSW Government legislation,” Ms Solomon said.
Manly Hydraulics Laboratory is a business unit within the NSW Department of Finance, Services and Innovation, and has been providing specialist testing services in the lab and out in the field since 1944.
