Over the next few years, Water Infrastructure NSW is developing and delivering a broad range of infrastructure projects across the state. Each of these projects are at different stages of planning and development.
We will be seeking a broad range of services to help develop and deliver these projects, including design, construction and engineering, communications and stakeholder engagement, environmental assessment and planning expertise.
As part of our commitment to investing in the communities where our projects are located, and to providing significant opportunities and economic benefits to regional areas, we are seeking to engage local contractors, First Nations businesses and people to help develop and deliver our projects.

Frequently asked questions
Below are answers to frequently asked questions regarding procurement and contracting for Water Infrastructure NSW projects and programs.
Is there an engineering panel established to deliver the engineering scope for the SDLAM program?
Water Infrastructure NSW has engaged a Design Engineer and Owners Engineer for the SDLAM program to design the majority of the SDLAM Acceleration projects. The current intention is to release construct only contracts once design is complete.
What accountability measures are in place for Aboriginal involvement, cultural safety and heritage protection?
The NSW Government has the Aboriginal Procurement Policy and Water Infrastructure NSW also has the Aboriginal Community Outcomes Strategy (in consultation). For contracts greater than $7.5M there are mandatory targets to meet; these being 1 per cent of goods and services and constructions spend and 3 per cent of goods and services contracts that don’t relate to construction.
Will Water Infrastructure NSW be setting up a panel or putting out tenders for environmental approvals works?
Water Infrastructure NSW will generally call tenders for environmental related approvals activities on a project/program basis. We may also use delivery partners for these works where applicable.
We are considering establishing a panel of providers for these services however all options are still being discussed internally.
Will Water Infrastructure NSW be tendering for SDLAM projects on the basis of design and construct or will they separate the two?
Water Infrastructure NSW has engaged a Design Engineer and Owners Engineer to design the majority of the SDLAM Acceleration projects. The current intention is to release construct only contracts once design is complete.
What stage of design is Water Infrastructure NSW up to for each of the projects presented at the industry event in Moama in November?
It varies for each project and timeframes for each are indicated in the Project Pipeline - Southern Basin brochure (PDF, 3218.92 KB).
Will Water Infrastructure NSW consider doing an event in Deniliquin?
Our next event within the southern region will be project specific and will relate to individual procurement strategies such as Expression of Interests.
Will local businesses get the chance to demonstrate they as capable at delivering projects as well as the big tiers?
Businesses are encouraged to register on e-tendering to receive notifications of tenders being released. Business can also register with us directly to advise what their capabilities and work regions are at the following link. This information can be provided to organisations who have tendered with us so they can reach out to local businesses. Each tender has criteria that all responses are measured against.
What is the criteria weighting for being a local business or using a local business?
The evaluation criteria for each tender are published as part of the tender package. Evaluation criteria may vary from project to project. Our selection processes will include consideration of local content.
