Hunter Water Regulation remake

The Regulation under which Hunter Water supplies water, sewerage and drainage and wastewater disposal services to the region is due for renewal.

Feedback on a remake of the Hunter Water Regulation 2015 is now open. You can have your say from Monday 24 June 2024 to Sunday 14 July 2024.


The Hunter Water Regulation 2015 is a statutory instrument under the Hunter Water Act 1991 and is used to regulate activities in the catchment areas and water storages, compliance with plumbing and drainage standards, protection of Hunter Water works or property or assets, and implementation of water restrictions. The regulation supports effective, efficient and prudent operations of Hunter Water in delivering its services to the community.

The department is seeking the community’s views on the remake of the Hunter Water Regulation 2015 which expires on 1 September 2024 unless it is remade. The Hunter Water Regulation 2024 has been drafted to replace the 2015 regulation.
