Application form

Point-of-intake metering equipment measures the flow of water that enters a water supply work and other infrastructure such as floodgates.

To be eligible, the applicant must demonstrate that the works are able to control the entry of overland flow water onto the property and associated water supply works.

Point-of-intake metering equipment must meet the requirements of the non-urban metering rules.

Who can determine if you can use point-of-intake?

To determine if water entering a water supply work can be measured by point-of-intake metering equipment the work approval holder will need to engage one of the following:

  • certified practicing hydrographer (CPH)
  • registered professional engineer who has experience in assessing overland water flow.

Additionally, a duly qualified person (DQP) must confirm installation of the point-of-intake metering equipment is in accordance with non-urban metering rules. Confirmation can be done by a:

  • certified meter installer (CMI) for closed conduit meters, or
  • CPH for open channel meters.
